Home Learning Information
Our home learning theme for this half term will be Bears.
Each week we will look at a different bear book in our Literacy lessons - fiction and non-fiction.
In EYFS our afternoon sessions will include PE, RE, PSHE and topic based work.
As the EYFS is a play based curriculum I will try and include lots of practical activities.
The expectation from the Government is that children complete 3 hours of curriculum work per day - this does include children in EYFS.
Part of the EYFS curriculum is Speaking and Listening - so talking to your child and extending their vocabulary is very important.
Physical Development is also part of our curriculum so I will be sending out ideas to improve fine motor skills.
All these additional activities you complete with your child form part of the 3 hours.
AM Literacy - including Literacy lesson, phonics activity and handwriting - 1 hour
AM Maths - including number formation 1 hour
PM Topic work - 1 hour
The children will need breaks and will find it difficult to concentrate for 1 full hour so I suggest breaking the times down into sections eg complete the phonics activity adn then have a 5 minute break before completing the Literacy activity.
I hope this is useful information - please e-mail me with any questions you might have.
Home Reading Books
Some parents asked if their child could have a reading book sent home.
This is how I intend to do this:
Next Friday in your new pack I will place 2 new reading books for your child.
Please bring the green folder given this week back with you on Friday with just your child's reading folder they currently have at home.
So from next week - 2 new reading books will be given out in your new packs on a Friday.
- You need to bring these back to school in the folder given the previous week the following Friday.
Hopefully this system will work.
This week your child does have words and sentences to read as part of the phonics lesson.
