Design & Technology
In Year 5, the first product we have made is a CAM toy. The children first researched a range of CAM toys and learnt about the four main parts: CAM, follower, slider, handle. They practised the main skills to produce the CAM toy which included using a saw, hot glue gun, drill and ruler to measure accurately. We also learnt about health and safety when using these tools. In small groups, we designed our own CAM toy and we thought carefully about the design criteria and target audience. We then made and evaluated our product. The children worked incredibly well together and showed great teamwork! They showed great perseverance when it came to solving problems with their mechanism. Well done, Year 5!
